Thanks for Foulke's paper on "Cellular Separation." Concurs with his views and hopes that this is but part of a more complete work on prisons and prison discipline. Comments that Dickens "cannot strike anyone as doing more than most unworthily to excite our sympathy for criminals and such." Foulke's "management of his remarks is skilful and entirely satisfactory."
Thanks Foulke for publications. Refers to his British India contact as his cousin, Dr. Stuart Clark "who has long held a civil appointment in India and who has given some attention to the refreins of prisons there." Note: seems that this should be "reforms" but appears to be "refreins."
